Advancing Social Safety Infrastructure (SSI): Dr. Claude Wang Attends 2026 Congressional Award Leadership Reception in Washington, D.C.

In April 2026, Dr. Claude Wang was invited to attend the Congressional Award Leadership Reception, held at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The event, hosted by the Congressional Award Foundation, brought together Members of Congress, policy advisors, and youth representatives to recognize outstanding youth achievements and promote civic engagement and leadership development.

(Dr. Wang and Mr. Eric Fernandez)

Dr. Wang is the Founder of the University of San Jose (USJ) and Chairman of ALLCPR, a national CPR and emergency response training network. During the event, he engaged with leaders from government and nonprofit sectors and emphasized the importance of empowering youth through structured skill development and real-world service experience. He noted that strengthening emergency response capabilities and public service awareness among young people is essential to building more resilient communities.

At the reception, Dr. Wang exchanged ideas with participants on integrating emergency preparedness training into youth development pathways. He introduced the concept of combining CPR education with emerging technologies, including the development of “AI + CPR” training labs and youth volunteer service programs. These initiatives aim to encourage youth participation in community safety efforts and contribute to building a scalable, community-based life response network.

Dr. Wang’s participation reflects the growing recognition of USJ and the broader Social Safety Infrastructure (SSI) framework in national conversations around public safety and youth development. The initiative is expected to support future collaboration and expansion across the United States.
