A company’s fate is often directly tied to the successful introduction of new products and services. Unfortunately, the failure rate of these introductions is high because of the lack of understanding of the product management process. In most companies, the product managers (PM) are responsible for decisions related to a product or service. Their functions include discovering an idea for a new product, defining the features and technical specifications, coordinating the R&D effort, formulating a marketing or product launch plan (pricing, sales channels and promotion), forecasting sales volume, profits and risks, making arrangements with manufacturers and preparing a proposal to convince the company’s management or potential investors. This course introduces 6 key phases of the entire new product development process: idea generation and screening,
concept development and testing, product development, product launch and product life cycle management.
